Dr. Desai has presented to audiences across national conferences, state and local agencies, academic institutions, and professional organizations. Her speaking experience spans both large audiences of 200+ and more intimate, highly collaborative settings, including problem-solving court staff and multidisciplinary medical teams.
Dr. Desai is particularly passionate about translating psychological and mental health concepts for audiences both within and outside of the mental health field. Her presentations have addressed topics including compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma, multidisciplinary collaboration to improve health outcomes, and emerging interventions for justice-involved and military populations.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with reentry: A theoretical overview and proposed addition to the Drexel Reentry Project. Presented at the 2019 Annual Conference of the American Psychology-Law Society, Portland, OR.
Criminal prosecution of substance use during pregnancy: An examination of judicial and public perceptions. Presented at the 2020 Annual Conference of the American Psychology-Law Society, New Orleans, LA.
Suicide among justice-involved veterans: A brief overview of research, theoretical conceptualization, and recommendations. Invited lecture given at the Suicide Prevention Summit, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Trauma/PTSD Training for Veterans Court Professionals: Program Development, Implementation, and Preliminary Outcomes. Invited lecture given at the Mental Health Grand Rounds, Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center.
